Welcome to RPP Studies at the Listening Hands Polarity Program!
A Profesionally Approved ProgramListening Hands Polarity Program offers a program approved by the American Polarity Therapy Association. APTA is an ally, a professional organization that cares about Health, Health Care Options, Holistic and Body-mind Therapies and personal responsibility in healing. It backs up each graduate from an approved program with a certification process, insurance options, legal and organizational support, conferences, a community of peers and avenues for continuing education in Polarity Therapy. A Meaningful Career Step The 615 hour Registered Polarity Practitioner Training exceeds the minimum hours required for most U.S. bodywork certification trainings. APTA's Standards for Education and for Practice and Code of Ethics are superior in the bodywork field. Teachers of Polarity have decades of experience from which they draw. They also share a great love of the work and for the legacy and work of Dr. Randolph Stone, Founder of Polarity Therapy.
Overview of the RPP TrainingThis training is taught in 51 days. It is organized according to the elements: beginning with ether and moving to earth. With each element, anatomy relevant to that element will be introduced followed by energetic anatomy and bodywork techniques appropriate to treat these areas and systems of the body. Body-mind issues and assessment will also be introduced around each element. APP Level Theory will be reviewed and Polarity Theory will be developed further at an RPP level. Polarity Nutritional knowledge will also be reviewed and then deepened as students learn how to share this nutritional knowledge with a client in a session. Polarity Yoga will be taught and reviewed. Then students will be asked to demonstrate teaching their peers Polarity Yoga in class, indicating their ability to apply it in practice. Communication skills are taught, based on the Hakomi Therapy body-mind model. These skills allow for a student to make contact, develop rapport, help a client deepen their process, and to skillfully ask appropriate questions to clarify and further a process. On an ethical level, students will be made aware of the limits of these skills and the importance of being willing to refer clients to other professionals in the psychological field, if they feel "out of their depth". An emphasis on presence and compassion fills and contains the program. Discussion
of ethics occurs at every stage of the program, beginning with how and
when to touch or not touch, moving into how to recognize, honor and
acknowledge clients' traumas through communication skills, and in knowing
the limits of one's competencies. In the business section, students
will develop personal business plans based on the Polarity model. They
will go into their communities and put these plans into action, bringing
back feedback to Business-Project classes where they present the things
that worked and things which did not so that students may learn from
one another. They will then Supervision is a key component of an RPP program. In addition to in-class discussion about out-of-class practice sessions, Clinic Days will be held in which students have the opportunity to work on new clients from the "real world", get observed by their teachers and get feedback and supervision from their teachers and peers . 70 Out of Class Practice Sessions are required: 2 cases must be followed for 10 sessions; One of these 10-session clients will be the subject of a presentation, given by each student on the Guided Feedback-Project day. In this 10-session case, the student must be able to demonstrate his or her ability to follow a process and apply principles of Polarity to understand and treat a client. An additional 50 sessions must be written up as practice sessions, in which students use the bodywork, nutritional, counseling and Polarity Yoga skills they have learned in class. Students are also required to receive 10 sessions from an RPP while in the program, for their own personal growth and in order to experience for themselves, a process of Polarity with a professional over a period of time.
